ABOUT

Divya Nair is a literary scholar, artist, public program developer and community builder. Born in India, she spent her childhood in India and her formative years in Canada and the United States, where she now resides. She completed her M.A (2011) and Ph.D (2021) in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a Benjamin Franklin Fellow. Her book, Classical Reception and the Problem of Antiquity in Early Modern English Literature, explores how racial, linguistic, and religious ideals shape the reception of antiquity through genres, tropes, geographies, and cosmologies in modern Anglophone literature and culture. She completed her postdoctoral work at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign at the Humanities Research Institute, where she was Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Public Humanities from 2023-2024. She is also a visual artist of 12+ years.
